We’re getting there! Google has now listed us on page 1, position 7 when searching keywords ‘pixel advertising’ and on page 2 for ‘pixel ads’!
This summer I’m going to ride my bike from John o’ Groats to Land’s End in aid of Cancer Research UK. The challenge will start on the 16th of August 2010 where I will ride end to end, solo and unsupported carrying all my own equipment.
The chosen route will generally follow the CTC’s (Cyclists’ Touring Club) scenic route, therefore the route with more hills which is mainly on minor and B roads. The route is just over 1000 miles and it is expected to take 10 to 14 days, the duration of which I will spend camping and staying in Youth Hostels.
To boost my fundraising we have added a special Cancer Research UK grid at the top of our homepage where 100% of the money raised from the purchase of pixels bought in the special Cancer Research UK grid will be donated to Cancer Research UK. The pixels have been priced the same as the main pixel grid of $0.50 per pixel and will last for 5 years as well.

We are now listed on page 2 in Google when searching ‘pixel advertising’ and ‘pixel ads’!

Just over 5 years ago an entrepreneur called Alex Tew created the milliondollarhomepage and made internet history by selling 1,000,000 pixels for a dollar each. The sold pixels would expire after 5 years from the day of purchase and then be up for renewal once again. Alex started selling pixels at the end of August 2005 and sales really took off in November. This means it is this year that these pixels will be up for resale again and pixel advertising returns!
After Alex’s site sold out and thousands of copy-cat sites later, pixel advertising was all but dead. However when his pixels come up for renewal again we predict pixel advertising will make a comeback for which we anticipate a surge in pixel advertising again. We believe a large percentage of Alex’s advertisers will renew their pixels again and those that don’t will probably get snapped up by new customers.
About Our Site
We have designed our site so that it is slightly different to Alex’s but with the same concept. On our site, advertisers have the option to purchase larger 100 x 100 pixels ads for maximum exposure and/or 10 x 10 pixels for 5 years. We have also made our pixels 50% cheaper than Alex’s making it an attractive choice. Recently we have also added a special pixel grid supporting Cancer Research UK whereby 100% of the money raised from the purchase of pixels in this grid will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
Our aim is to be well established in the pixel advertising community and to be highly placed in search engines etc. when the original pixel ads start to expire.

Yahoo! – Ranking No.1

SEO Update. We are pleased to announce that Yahoo! ranks us number 1 on page 1 when searching the term ‘pixel advertising’. We are also on page 2 of Yahoo! when searching ‘pixel ads’!
In Google we are hovering around page 2 for both searches which we’re pleased about but obviously we’re not going to settle for that!
Our site is now listed in Bing but no listing yet for our keyword searches.
Search Engine Optimization

Over the past month we have submitted our site to all the popular search engines. We have entered Google on page 4 and page 9 on Yahoo! when searching the term ‘pixel advertising’.
There’s lots of work to be done but we’re aiming to be on the 1st page and within the top 3 listings for all the major search engines when searching the term ‘pixel advertising’ and ‘pixel ads’.
Currently we’re not listed in Bing but its takes Bing a month or so to add a new site to their directory.
We’ll keep you posted with our progress, Neil.
